Dave Hunt
Dave started his dragon boat “career” by volunteering for the 2003 Lethbridge Dragon Boat Festival. He became enthusiatic about this water sport and was one of the founding members of Team ID just after the 2003 Lethbridge Dragon Boat Festival, where the team paddled in Kelowna that fall. Dave has paddled in Kelowna, Regina, Calgary, Edmonton, Elkwater, Vancouver, and Phoenix, AZ. Dave has coached for the Lethbridge Dragon Boat Festival since the 2004 season and also coached Team ID from the 2006 to 2008 seasons. In 2008, the Rotary Festival decided to "beef up" the training provided to the festival teams and asked Dave to be one of the festival Head Coaches. Dave has completed Dragon Boat Canada Level One Coaching Certification in 2010, National Coaching Certification Program Level B in 2009 and Dragon Boat Canada Officiating Level One in 2009. He has taken Critical Eye Coaching sessions, attended Water's Edge Phoenix Arizona Paddling Camp in 2008 and attended the Water's Edge Dragon Boat Conference in Vancouver 2009 & 2010.
Dave also enjoys running, biking, rollerblading and volunteering at various Lethbridge sporting events.
Karen Collin
Karen started out with the City of Lethbridge Dragn' R Butz crew in the first year of the festival, 2002, and then paddled with them again in the 2003 festival. Finding a new passion for the sport, Karen was instrumental in starting Team ID just after the 2003 festival in hopes of paddling through a longer season and travelling to other festivals. She has paddled in Kelowna, Regina, Calgary, Edmonton, and Elkwater. Karen was assistant coach of Team ID for the 2007 and 2008 seasons. In 2008, the Rotary Festival decided to "beef up" the training provided to the festival teams and asked Karen to be one of the festival Head Coaches. Karen has completed the Level A of the National Coaching Certification Program in 2008, and obtained Dragon Boat Canada Level One Coaching Certification in 2010. She has taken Dragon Boat Canada Officiating Level One in 2010, Critical Eye Coaching sessions, and several paddling technique workshops. Karen attended the Water's Edge Dragon Boat Conference in Vancouver in April 2009 & 2010.
Karen has recently joined Hibikiya, a Taiko drumming club, enjoys running, yoga, swimming, volunteering and helps to organizes many running events in our City.
